  • 1920s: Construction
  • 1951: U.S. Air Force purchases facility from private oil companies
  • 1956: Santa Fe Pacific Pipelines (an operating partnership of Kinder Morgan Energy Partners) begins operations on 2½-acre portion on southern boundary
  • 1968: Defense Logistics Agency assumes operational control; managed by DLA Energy
  • 1985: Buried oily waste discovered
  • 1986-1995: Environmental investigations conducted to determine nature and extent of fuel releases
  • 1993: Site-wide human health risk assessment conducted
  • 1995: Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) established
  • 1995-1996: Full-scale cleanup begins
  • 1996: West Side Barrier System initiated
  • 1998: New pipeline project and facility closure proposed
  • 1999: Biosparging and phytoremediation initiated
  • 2001: Tank Farm closes
  • 2001: SFPP Pump Station Decommissioned
  • 2004: Truck Fill Stand area investigation initiated
  • 2005: Eastern Boundary investigation initiated
  • 2005: Closure granted for Oily Waste area by RWQCB
  • 2006: Human Health Risk Assessment conducted in southern off-site area
  • 2007: Revised Remedial Action Plans for closure initiated
  • 2008: West Side Barrier System shutdown due to reduced MTBE and 1,2-DCA concentrations
  • 2010: Tanks Demolished
  • 2010-2014: Ongoing Soil and Groundwater Remediation
  • 2015: DLA Energy begins on-site excavation and treatment of soil
  • 2016: Excavation and treatment of soil completed.
  • 2016: Fifteen acres in the eastern portion of the site were transferred from the United States Air Force to the City of Norwalk to be used to expand the adjacent Holifield Park.
